DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE

I was honored to participate in the reading of the Declaration of Independence on July 4th in Eureka. Thank you to the Woodford County Historical Society, Mayor Eric Lind, and everyone who showed up for this event that helped celebrate our nation’s 250th birthday!

We will have over 30 agencies participating, along with tons of important information and screenings available. There is no admission charge, and free refreshments will be provided. Come join us and please stop by and say hello. I look forward to seeing everyone!
ROAD SAFETY

Please be extra cautious on Illinois roadways over the next several weeks during IDOT’s mowing season. Remember to slow down and give workers and equipment plenty of space to make sure everyone gets home safely at the end of the day.
GRANTS

Open Space Land Acquisition and Development grants help local governments acquire land and develop public parks and outdoor recreation areas. Applications for the grants are open now through August 31.
ETHICS

Despite the Inspector General finding “clear patterns of conduct” that were “outrageous, unethical, and unbecoming of a member of the Illinois House,” for allegations of sexual harassment against now-former Rep. Harry Benton, Gov. Pritzker and Speaker Welch refuse to call for the report to be made public.
Where is the transparency? Illinois families deserve confidence that elected officials are held to the highest ethical standards. House Republicans will continue pushing for accountability, transparency, and meaningful ethics reforms.
CORRUPTION

In the span of just over a month, State Rep. Carol Ammons, her husband, and daughter have been indicted on federal charges including pandemic/unemployment fraud, wire fraud, making a false statement, and obstruction charges.
Despite these, and many other recent corruption cases, Illinois Democrats who control the state legislature still refuse to pass the meaningful ethics reform necessary to stop the grift in Illinois politics and restore trust in government for the people of Illinois.
ILLINOIS STATE FAIR

The Illinois State Fair kicks off in Springfield on August 13. The annual tradition brings visitors from across Illinois and beyond for agriculture, food, entertainment, and live music. This week, the Illinois Department of Agriculture announced the supporting acts for the Grandstand concert series.
