PROPERTY TAXES

Out-of-control property taxes make it harder and harder for families to achieve the American dream in Illinois and leaving them searching for an exit route. We need structural change in Illinois to fix the broken property tax system and make our state more affordable.

NEW LAWS TAKE EFFECT JULY 1

Beginning July 1, a new wave of Illinois laws will officially take effect. Many of these changes could impact your daily life, which is why it’s important to stay informed about what lawmakers in Springfield have passed.

HUNTERS FEEDING ILLINOIS

Thank you to the hunters who donated deer to the Hunters Feeding Illinois program this year, as well as the meat processors and food pantries who made this source of lean protein available to families in need across Illinois.

SMALL BUSINESSES

Businesses large and small are struggling with Illinois’ high costs and poor public policies. If we want to provide the best opportunities for residents and job creators, we must make Illinois more affordable for all.

SEVERE STORMS

Strong storms and tornadoes hit some of our local communities on Thursday night. Thankfully, there were no fatalities reported. But there were numerous reports of major property damage and homes destroyed, downed trees and limbs, and downed power lines and utility poles. Areas in Streator suffered the most damage, as a large and dangerous tornado hit the community just after 5:30 p.m. Power outages were reported across our local areas as well.

Thank you to everyone who assisted those in need, including emergency personnel and first responders, utility crews, and municipal employees. This was a terrifying and dangerous situation for many of our neighbors, and I am grateful that no serious injuries were reported. See more storm coverage links below, including from the Livingston County Sheriff’s Department, and safety tips.
