GLOCK BAN

At a press conference this week in Springfield, House Republicans stood up for law-abiding gun owners. I discussed the consequences and potential fallout of HB 4471, which was passed this week by the House Gun Violence Prevention committee. HB 4471 would implement a de facto ban on the sale and manufacture of certain Glock pistols in Illinois.
SECOND AMENDMENT

House Democrats keep attacking Second Amendment rights in Illinois. This has been an ongoing battle this year as Dems propose bill after bill to punish law-abiding gun owners. House Republicans will continue to stand against any measures that infringe on the Second Amendment in our state.
WELCOME TO THE CAPITOL

This week, I welcomed back Erin Darnell to the Capitol as my page for the day. Erin is from Metamora and she graduated earlier this month from the University of Illinois Springfield (UIS). Erin earned Magna cum laude honors and received a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science. She plans to continue her work as a traveling dental hygienist in long-term care facilities. In the future, Erin hopes to explore opportunities in public health and state-level politics.
Congratulations, Erin! And thank you for visiting the Capitol!
LOCAL CONTROL

Governor Pritzker is continuing to attack local control. From his mandates on green energy projects to his proposed one-size-fits-all zoning plan, local leaders are having their voices silenced and deserve a seat at the table when it comes to deciding what is best for their communities.
AGRICULTURE

A stormy and wet spring has presented challenges to farmers all across Illinois, but the latest data shows that nearly three quarters of corn and soybeans have been planted. Please be sure to use caution on the roads and allow farmers room to move their large equipment as they complete the planting season.
VOTING RIGHTS

Illinois Democrats are advancing legislation that would allow convicted felons to vote while incarcerated. It is wrong to give inmates the same voting privileges as the law-abiding citizens impacted by those crimes.
MEMORIAL DAY

May we never forget the reason for the Memorial Day holiday, which is to honor all those who have made the ultimate sacrifice so that we can be free. We may not know them all, but we owe them all. Please be sure to take a moment this weekend and on Monday to remember our fallen military heroes.
