Rep. Tipsword’s E-Newsletter: IGOLD, Jobs, America 250, and More

STATE CAPITOL/IGOLD RALLY

We just wrapped up a very busy week in Springfield, and we were proud to welcome visitors from across the state to the State Capitol. That includes thousands of responsible Illinois gun owners, who converged upon the Statehouse for the annual IGOLD (Illinois Gun Owner Lobby Day) event.

We champion those who continue to stand up for personal freedoms and oppose dangerous, costly, and unconstitutional legislation that continues to be pushed by the majority party in Illinois. House Republicans will not stand for these continued attacks on our Second Amendment rights.

JOBS

The Illinois Department of Corrections (IDOC) is hosting upcoming screenings for Corrections Officer and Treatment Officer trainee positions, including on April 30 in Pontiac. Learn more here and from the graphic above.

OUTMIGRATION TRENDS

Newly released data from the IRS shows Illinois had the third largest loss of resident income through moves to other states in 2023. Our high cost-of-living is fueling massive income outmigration as people look for more affordable places to call home. We must provide relief now to encourage investment in our state.

ESTATE TAX

Illinois’ estate tax disproportionately hurts farm families. We need to reform this burdensome “death tax” to keep farming alive in our state.

AMERICA 250

Illinois residents are being invited to help mark the nation’s 250th birthday by sharing their own stories. The Illinois America 250 Commission has launched Illinois Voices 250, a statewide effort to record conversations with people from every corner of the state. Each recording will be preserved at the U.S. Library of Congress.
