NATIONAL POLICE WEEK

National Police Week is a collaborative effort, organized by a number of organizations dedicated to honoring America’s law enforcement community. National Police Week offers a time to pay special recognition to law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty.
EDUCATION TAX CREDIT

Illinois families deserve the best opportunities for their children, and a new federal program makes that easier than ever. The Educational Choice for Children Act offers up to $1,700 in federal tax credits to fund scholarships, tutoring, and educational support for K-12 students. All Governor Pritzker has to do is opt in. Colorado’s Democratic Governor called it a “no-brainer.” Colorado, New York, and 27 other states have already said yes. It’s time for Illinois to join them.
SCHOOL GRANTS

Congratulations to the city of Pontiac and Pontiac CCSD #429 for securing a $250,000 IDOT Safe Routes to School Grant Award! Infrastructure improvements will be made around four schools, including Central Grade School, Washington Grade School, Lincoln Grade School, and Pontiac Junior High. The work will include sidewalk replacement, installation of detectable warning signs, ADA accessible ramps, painted crosswalks, and signage at several intersections. Grants awarded by the Safe Routes to School program support projects and activities that improve safety and encourage walking, biking, and rolling to school.
MOTHER ROAD CENTENNIAL

Route 66 turns 100 this year, and many Illinois communities are celebrating the Mother Road’s centennial, including Pontiac.
AFFORDABILITY

Illinois families need relief. Politics shouldn’t get in the way of providing that. By removing taxes on tips and suspending the gas sales tax, we can help Illinoisans immediately while we continue to work toward long-term solutions to Illinois’ affordability crisis.
PUBLIC SAFETY

When accountability disappears because of Democrats’ weak public safety policies, criminals stop fearing consequences and communities pay the price. Illinois families deserve laws that restore accountability, uphold public safety, and keep our communities safe.
