RURAL TRANSPORTATION – Futures Connections has stepped up in a big way to address rural transportation needs in District 105. The Iroquois County Board’s Transportation Committee has declared that Future Connections will be the the official carrier for Iroquois County going forward. Drivers are needed, especially in the Watseka/Iroquois County area. Please see the flyer above for more information on how to apply.

Futures has also added more frequent stops and locations to its Pontiac city daily route. It continues to serve all of Livingston County as well, and makes frequent requested trips to Bloomington and Peoria. Ridership in February in Livingston County was over 2,000 trips. Drivers are also needed in this area!

Ridership is also growing in Ford County. And again, getting more drivers hired is the top priority right now for Futures Connections!

Road Construction on I-80 in Bureau County has begun. A 14-mile work zone exists from one mile west of the Illinois 26 interchange in Princeton to one mile west of the Illinois 89 interchange in Ladd. The $17.9 million project will resurface nearly 14 miles of roadway. The work will be split into two 7-mile segments, with full completion expected by October. Learn more here

AGRICULTURE/PUBLIC SAFETY

Please watch for slow-moving farm equipment and implements as planting season gets underway across Illinois. Let’s make sure everyone gets home safely at the end of the day by slowing down, being patient, and giving our farmers plenty of space on the roadways this spring.

AFFORDABILITY CRISIS

In an interview with Politico, House Speaker Chris Welch once again tried to blame Washington for Illinois’ fiscal failures instead of taking responsibility for the Democrat policies that have made our state’s outlook worse. As Democrats continue pointing fingers, House Republicans will continue advancing real solutions to lower costs and make life more affordable for the people of Illinois.

SECOND AMENDMENT

Instead of addressing the root causes of crime in Illinois, Democrats are once again infringing on 2nd Amendment rights. This time, they’re trying to effectively ban the sale of Glock pistols in the state because criminals alter the guns using switch devices that are already illegal. Law-abiding gun owners and manufacturers should not be punished for the actions of these criminals.

It’s down to the final four in the Illinois Manufacturers’ Association’s Makers Madness competition. Cast your vote to help name the Coolest Thing Made in Illinois now through April 12.
