REP. TIPSWORD HONORED AS PUBLIC OFFICIAL OF THE YEAR

At the State Capitol this week, I was very humbled and honored to receive the 2025 Public Official of the Year Award from the Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police. After spending 30-plus years in the industry, it’s an incredible honor to receive this award from a group of my peers. Thank you.

AMMUNITION TAX

The Ammo Tax represents yet more government overreach targeting law-abiding gun owners while doing nothing to stop actual criminals. Here’s what HB 4414 does:
- Forces every bullet you buy to be tracked, registered, and tied to your name in a government database because Springfield politicians think you’re a suspect.
- Slaps fees of up to 5 cents per round on ammunition and a hidden tax on your constitutional rights.
- Makes it a criminal offense to possess your own legally purchased ammunition in public without government-approved serialization.
- Creates a massive new bureaucracy with zero evidence it will reduce crime.
Democrats in Springfield continue to attack our Second Amendment rights. I will continue my efforts to stop these continued attempts to enact bad legislation. Please do your part by staying up to date with the latest amendments and file witness slips in opposition if you are able.

AG DAY

This week, we celebrated Ag Day at the State Capitol. Agriculture is a major driver of Illinois’ economy, and we were proud to celebrate this vital industry. Thank you to our farmers, food processors, ag educators, and all who keep agriculture strong in Illinois!
WELCOME TO THE CAPITOL

We celebrated a very busy week at the State Capitol and welcomed a number of visitors. I enjoyed meeting with our District 105 friends in Agriculture and FFA, including the McLean County Farm Bureau (top), Pontiac High School FFA (middle), and Flanagan FFA (bottom). Thank you for coming to Springfield, and I am proud to support your efforts!
ESTATE TAX

The estate tax, sometimes referred to as the “death tax”, unfairly burdens farm families. By reforming this broken tax, we can help ensure farms stay in the family for generations to come.
IMMIGRATION

Governor Pritzker wants to point fingers over the ongoing crisis of illegal immigrants committing crimes in Illinois, but he cannot escape his own record.
IDOT WORKSHOPS

The Illinois Department of Transportation is hosting 11 workshops throughout the state this spring to help local governments and communities learn about and apply for funding opportunities through the Illinois Transportation Enhancement Program.
