Gun Owners’ Personal Information, DCFS Director, Trout Season, and More

Protecting Gun Owners’ Personal Information

I am sponsoring a new bill to help protect personal information law-abiding gun owners are now required to submit to the state to register certain firearms under Democrats’ new gun ban/registration law.

The most recent attack on our Second Amendment rights not only bans several commonly owned firearms, it requires gun owners also register several other firearms and attachments with the state before January 1st. Meanwhile, challenges to the new law are still going through the courts. I’m sponsoring House Bill 4150 that, if the gun ban law is found unconstitutional, would require the State Police to immediately destroy all personal information gun owners have had to submit to comply with the registration portion of the law.

The list of firearms required for registration can be found here.

DCFS Director Out on December 31st

https://chicago.suntimes.com/politics/2023/10/4/23903234/dcfs-director-marc-smith-resignation-illinois

Marc Smith’s resignation announcement is a good first step, but it’s not the complete answer to problems at DCFS, and DCFS is not the only agency failing Illinois residents.

Doctors, nurses, and other health care professionals are waiting up to a year for license approvals from the Department of Finance and Professional Regulation (IDFPR). According to industry officials, wait times for license approval and renewal in other states average 30 days!

Transparency and Accountability of our State agencies is not a partisan issue, it’s a human issue! The blame game needs to stop so that we can truly serve the needs of “We the People”.

Illinois Could Face a Volunteer Firefighter Shortage

“In Illinois, about two-thirds of the state’s roughly 1,100 fire departments rely almost entirely on volunteers. And, with few exceptions, those departments are running out of volunteers.”

Trout Season

Trout season opens later this month for waterways across the state. IDNR officials say the early catch-and-release season, scheduled to open Oct. 7 this year, will be stocked later than expected because of forecasted and observed warm water temperatures.
